Just one week is left before we depart our home port of Racine, Wisconsin — for good!?! — and take off south down the river.

The list of projects, errands, and to-dos is still a mile long. We need to buy anchor chain, install an anchor swivel, hook up plumbing to our secondary water tank, install sound deadening material inside the engine compartment, top off our batteries, install a cell phone booster, figure out what’s up with our engine leaking oil, arrange for our mast to be unstepped in Chicago, and organize our entire boat — which is a nonstop mess.

In between the chores, we squeeze a little yoga, a workout, grocery provisioning, and even a day sail with our boat neighbors. They’ve so graciously helped us with so many boat projects over the summer, and since neither of them were able to sail their own boats this season, we were happy to be able to take them out on ours.
